Flourishing Seed

The vision brought back from Philippines STM fanned the passion of Kit on youth and music ministry at the age of 18. Kit, the worshipper, has been faithfully serving God with his music and discipling many young people for 30 years. During the last worship session in the camp, he shared an insight to the STM teams, “STM is not an activity nor a slogan. It is as real as God planting a seed in your heart. Prepare a space to contain it.” He has been growing the seed in his own life where it is taking root and flourishing.

Sustaining Seed

Again 30 years ago, another seed of leadership has taken shape in the life of his wife, Carmen, who then took her first STM. Ever since, she has tendered the seed under the soil of Smart Team for 14 years. Countless trips she has made and led, she travelled with parenting teams recently. This year she went further with her team (including her own little daughter) to the Promised City where it required a longer flight and stay. At the end of the journey, her daughter eagerly asked her mom, “Who will take me on the next trip?” For Carmen, it was a milestone; for her daughter, it was inheritance.

Seeding Ideas

Carmen’s last year parenting trip to Southern Thailand was fruitful. Teammates learnt about the needs of returning missionaries in the field and then came up with ideas for support when they came back home. Their contributing hearts made a way for housing and financial assistance. It was an act of kindness sprouted in the field and carried forward once the trip ended.

Seeding Team

5 families comprising12 members formed Carmen’s Southern Thailand team. 80% of them rejoined this year. Water, the former sub-leader, now leader of parenting team to the Philippines this year, said, “For a family to go on mission trip together, that is the greatest blessing from God ” Water realized that families trained with their children together bringing up a close bond, inspiring spirit and pastoral care among them. “Mission is a lifestyle” is well represented in a family unit. And each household carries a seed of mission to be prospering.
