#JustObey: Work Together

“In a movement, every single man’s effort counts,” concluded after the games by Bee, the Adventure Game instructor who was a former missionary of Cambodia. He empowered the STM members by saying that “it is your STM, but you are walking a path many have travelled before you. Long-term missionaries cleared the ground through years of struggles and many are still holding on. No act of effort is too small. Keep going. Your contribution matters.”

In a room, a hundred people blew balloons with all their might, using hand pumps or their breath. Bigger lungs filled many; smaller ones claimed only a few. Within 20 minutes, more than a thousand emoji-pattened balloons in every colour bloomed. All were done by a brief command with no clear purpose.

While the balloons swelled and floated, volunteers ran along the corridor between two rooms, delivering balloons to fill a venue set for the next adventure. Like the volunteering work itself, the theme echoed: the movement is not finished by one man only. It also took many to overcome the setting barriers and kept the game flowing.

Indeed, each balloon stands for a life. Every act of blowing air into one is a connection to another soul. It might be showing kindness or walking side by side with someone in their low moments. All are meaningful acts, carrying weight in heaven.

Each team was then led into the balloon-filled room for meditation and reflection. Members were asked to write down on the balloons their destinations and names mattered to them. Each team had its photo taken. It was a combined effort to show the true colour of the Great Commission, the collective movement, can bring.
