Taiwan Smart Team leader, John, together with his two co-workers flew to HK to offer support after their hectic STM in early July. He volunteered himself in the camp particularly the adventure games.
Orderly in the Unordered
“It goes wild and confusing in the games, but everyone become stronger in bonds while teams do the same things. What we do in Taiwan is more or less the same. We share the same sentiment for teams, for the movement and for missions.” John commented. The adventure game in HK included three challenges from physical coordination to mind game to puzzle solving. It aimed at fostering teamwork and harmony among STM members.
John has been involved in CCMN for 20 years. He finds the ethos of STM captivating when it stresses on relationship with unity and complements to one another. In short, STM is about people not agendas. So when he had a chance to encourage STM members, he shouted loudly, “It’s you who makes STM captivating.”
The Statement of a Lunatic
In the camp, a short film was shown to explain how a lunatic had given a drive to a movement. John shared his own insight:
“We put the Truth and Word of God as rules beside us. If we do put the Word of God inside us, we will be lunatics. The most lunatic thing to do is sacrificing ourselves.”
Characterized himself as a prudent, diligent and considerate pastor for years, John gave a stunning statement that “one will be gradually become a lunatic when he meets CCMN”. He has been deeply moved by the act of unconditional offers among churches. He further elaborated his thought by a metaphor -
“Two unconscious men are standing on the street. One man robs people. We call him bad man. Another man gives his own things to people daily. We call him lunatic.”
To sum up, “being Jesus followers are unconscious lunatics who are willing to sacrifice life for others”.
