Esther once ran into a rather green STM leader who had no idea at hand to serve in the disastrous zone. With a heart to help and act, Esther gave a suggestion that started the engine of the whole team under the young leadership. Esther from Los Angeles made her STM to New City this year.
A Walking History of STM
Indeed, since 1998 CCMN’s first trip to Mindanao, Esther has been committing herself to this yearly short term mission. Witnessing the progress and changes of CCMN, she has her part in sending missionaries to various fields. She even recalled the time in Sweet Tea Country where she met Big Head, whose personal story grabbed her heart. Relocated in New City, Big Head was going to reunite with Esther and took the team to explore a new horizon.
Calling to be Continued
Felt the call from God in her first STM, Esther has been taking the role of a facilitator to get more people into the missions movement, either bringing them to learn or drilling them within cross-cultural contexts. Her vision of doing missions in the Middle East came in line with the recent development in CCMN as well. Roughly speaking, she has inspired around 270 participants within these 20+ years. This year an early-retired sister in Christ followed Esther to come for STM training.
Strength of Common People
Esther encourages American Chinese to go for missions as US passport holders are accessible to many places without visas. Despite extra time and cost, she keeps coming to HK for training. She knows so well that CCMN welcomes ordinary people to do missions. It is not the kind of sermon-based training led by spiritual figures. It is the training that shows the basis of missions, ignites people’s passion by the Holy Spirit and generates big picture for them to accomplish in the Great Commission.
